Is my head in the clouds?
Are you thinking of the dunya or the akhira in your behavior and actions? The prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), said in a hadith that purity is half of faith. I know myself that I am trying my best to be a good example, a gentle speaker, and a rational person. I wish that I could reach a state where my mind is always open to the big picture. Especially as a compulsive worrier/nit-picker, I frequently let small things bother me. Now in a positive light, paying attention to detail can be a capability/strength that is very valuable. It's the power that you give that ability. Do you use your powers for good or for evil? Do you use the fitrah that you have been endowed with to practice your life in a halal way or otherwise? subhan'Allah, I respect the path. I respect the journey. Because the dunya is a hard place. What matters is today and what you're doing with it. Just being silent and aware of the state your body is in will tell you alot about what state your heart and mind are in...Just breathe in and out, and feel the muscles, lungs, and brain that Allah SWT created us with. Sense their movements and rhythms. Subhan'Allah even if you cannot put this feeling into words, it is a conscious awareness that we are created by Allah SWT and we are living at this point in time not from our own power but from Allah SWT's Qadr. Subhan'Allah, just a thought.

Can you imagine
what it would be like to hear
your touch on my skin and the
kindness of your words caressing my
perspective of what a life was supposed to be?
As your hands press the soil of my faith down
Seeds of love and beauty are growing in my heart
our time hasn't stopped
and continuing our journey up this path
is a reminder of my own mortality.
holding creamy hands and breathing you in
is the pure essence of what I was meant to do
caring for you and ours
careless thoughts are caught like fireflies
shining their light through the night
with enormous dark trees shading us.
In my dream I heard your footsteps rushing towards the place we were supposed to meet.

Dear friend.

Bloggy readers, AsSalaamu Alaikum (Peace be upon you)!!
I've into "balancing" my life lately, and a positive state of mind is something I've been exploring. One thing about me is that I love the minimalist lifestyle. Minimalism to me is elegance, beauty, and productive in a practical way. For example, when you search for something to wear, you do not swim through copious amounts of clothing to find your favorite pair of pants. Instead, minimalism is opening your closet doors to find your favorite pants waiting right in front of you.
If the thought of not having that feather boa that you "might need one day" is too painstaking, you may need to consider this concept: You and I are alive, breathing, beating, and sensing RIGHT NOW. My fingertips are pitterpattering away on the keyboard, the light at my desk is giving me a nice calm feeling, and I am happy to have a full stomach. Alhamdullilah (Glory be to god)......
On a side note, did you guys know that everytime you say Subhan'Allah, there is a tree planted for you in JANNAH?.....A friend asked me today: "who lives with you in Jannah?". Here is a piece on life in heaven (Jannah):
One view is to treat the description of Heaven as the symbolism for the indescribable bliss of the hereafter, but the religious experience confirms the literal sense, refined of course. Here is a synopsis of salvation. Says the Qur'an: "Theirs are the gardens...eternal home: God well pleased with them, and they with God; that is the great salvation (the fulfillment of all desires)." 122:5 "They and their associates (wives and family) will be in groves of (cool) shade, reclining on thrones (of dignity). (Various) fruits (refreshments) will be there for them. They shall have wahtever they call for (endowed with Amr') PEACE--a word (of blessing) from the Lord, most merciful" vide 55 to 58:36. "Those who believe (in God and his apostle Muhammad and in subsequent truths) and will stick to rightgeousness, their Lord will guide them because of their faith, (to regions) beneath which will flow rivers in gardens of paradise. (This be) their glee therein: "Glory to thee, O God!" and 'Peace' will be their greetings (to companions) therein, and close of their glee will be, "Peace be to God, the cherisher and sustainer of all the worlds." 9, 10:10, 31:16, 25, 33 to 35:50, 122:5, 55 to 58:36, 10:10.

What I wanted to relate was that minimalism is pure, subhan'Allah :P. Is the religion of islam not pure? Was the Prophet (SAW) found laying in a room that contained only a vase of water and a mat? SUBHAN'ALLAH...Is that pure simple and noble life not one of minimalism? To me, believing in one God, Allah (most high) is simple, pure, peaceful, and all I want and need in my life. So how we exist today IS our existence. What are lives are filled with right this second defines us. It makes us or breaks us. As time goes on and we find ourselves waking each morning to lives that drown us, a simple reminder would be to train your mind to act as a filter...
Sieve out the negativity in your life. You don't need it. Negativity needs YOU to thrive and grow larger, louder, and more bombarding in your life.
Here is a beautiful story about purity:
An old American Muslim lived on a farm in the mountains of eastern Kentucky with his young grandson. Each morning Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading his Quran. His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in every way he could.
One day the grandson asked, "Grandpa! I try to read the Quran just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand I forget as soon as I close the book. What good does reading the Qur'an do?".
The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and replied, "Take this coal basket down to the river and bring me back a basket of water.
The boy did as he was told, but all the water leaked out before he got back to the house. The grandfather laughed and said, "You'll have to move a little faster next time," and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again. This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home. Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was impossible to carry water in a basket, and he went to get a bucket instead.
The old man said, "I don't want a bucket of water; I want a basket of water. You're just not trying hard enough," and he went out the door to watch the boy try in.
At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water would leak out before he got back to the house. The boy again dipped the basket into river and ran hard, but when he reached his grandfather the basket was again empty. Out of breath, he said, "See Grandpa, it's useless!"
"So you think it is useless?" The old man said, "Look at the basket."
The boy looked at the basket and for the first time realized that the basket was different. It had been transformed from a dirty old coal basket and was now clean, inside and out.
Son, that's what happens when you read the Qur'an . You might not understand or remember everything, but when you read it, you will be changed, inside and out when you read time by time . That is the work of Allah in our lives...."
We see that simplicity comes hand in hand with purity: It requires us to let go of things we attach ourselves to negatively in constant practice.
Sit, let your mind wander, then use redirection to discipline your thoughts. For example me looking in the mirror....
Something looks different about my reflection....Have I gained some weight? How did this happen?....I am not attractive because I am fat...I am never going to find someone that loves my body..
Now redirected:
Something looks different...Have I gained some weight?....(STOP). Chinesemuslimah, you have been thoughtful about what you put into your body, and you have been giving your best effort at staying physical. I see, that you are beginning to think anxiously. The results you desire will come with time, consistency, and hard work...
It is not just about training your thoughts, although that is where much behavior can be changed. Your physical environment and relationships can take a huge toll on your state of mind and beliefs about yourself..that is one reason good company is stressed by our beloved Prophet Mohammad SAW.
Narrated by Abu Musa ‘The Prophet said ‘The example of a good pious companion and an evil one is that of a person carrying musk and another blowing a pair of bellows. The one who is carrying musk will either give you some perfume as a present, or you will buy some from him, or you will get a good smell from him, but the one who is blowing a pair of bellows will either burn your clothes or you will get a bad smell from him’. (Bukhari)
Subhan'Allah! our religion is useful in all matters,
Allahu Akbar (Allah is the greatest)
On a closing note: "Islam is meant to benefit us and prevent harm." Imam Suhaib Webb
I love you all for the sake of Allah SWT,
Sincerely,
Chinesemuslimah

I've divorced Sadness...
I have divorced the the dissapointment that grows when you feed it with empty calories.
The satisfaction of self-pity

FEAR
I realized that somewhere along my "siraat-al mustaqeem" I've taken a little rest inside a cave called "Fearing Allah" which in turn, caused me to become lost in a battle with myself. Subhan'Allah.....No. Islam freed me, and that is the perfection of it. I will not hide in this cave anymore, using it as an excuse to reject what I am really afraid of....(ie; being hurt, feeling ashamed, etc)
What I'm trying to say is that Islam is freedom, it is a beautiful, harmonious, natural lifestyle. Islam to me is supposed to help us to the highest of Jannah insha'Allah and EQUIP us to overcome the big the fears we confront in the dunya insha'Allah.

"Happiness IS a choice!!"
"Our eyes are filled with tears, our hearts with grief, but we say nothing with our lips except that which pleases Allah.... Verily, to Allah we belong, and to Him we return."
I'm just a rock, and everyday I sit and watch the sky
I sleep here in the sun and rain, and do not question why
I don't want to be a bird, 'cause as rocks we're never meant to fly
But you can sit and rest on me when you pass by
Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah) - Alhamdulillah I'm a rock
And that is all Allah asks of me
Alhamdulillah - Alhamdulillah I'm a Muslim
And there's nothing else I'd rather be
I'm just a tree and this is the only life I'll ever know
I'll bow my bows and worship whenever I feel the wind blow
And my purpose in life is to grow and Allah says grow
And be a home for the birds and shade for folks below
Alhamdulillah - Alhamdulillah I'm a tree
And that is all Allah asks of me
Alhamdulillah - Alhamdulillah I'm a Muslim
And there's nothing else I'd rather be
I'm just a person and my life is full of opportunity
I can travel through the world, over land and over sea
But will I choose the path of Truth, or a path to misguide me?
Sometimes I wish I had a simple life, just like a rock or a tree
But Alhamdulillah - Alhamdulillah I'm a person
And Allah has given me a choice that's free
So, Alhamdulillah - I choose to be a Muslim
And there's nothing else I'd rather be

"Beware of the excess of food; indeed, the excess of food hardens the heart, and slows the limbs from obedience to Allah, and deafens the mind from hearing the admonition. Beware of the excess of looking; indeed, it sows lust in the heart and creates foolishness. Beware of being greedy because greed fills the heart with strong avidity and seals the heart with the seal of the love of this world, and it is the key for bad deeds and the cause for foiling good deeds"

a friendly reminder
AsSalaamu Alaikum,
Don't muddle over things. Muddling is unnecessary because we know our way of life...the path in which we intend to walk..Allah SWT has revealed it to our beloved Prophet Muhammed SAW.
We do not need to question our actions because insha'Allah as muslims we are constantly questioning and rectifying our intentions the way we were instructed, before anything even happens insha'Allah. Alhamdullilah.
The energy that we derive from not having to second guess our actions is full of power and surely it comes from Allah SWT.
May we adhere to Islam to maintain peace in our hearts and simplicity in our lives.
Here is a beautiful quiet recitation for you to enjoy.

salaam alaikum everyone.
Just one saying for you people at this moment in time:
Illegitimi non carborundum
Latin for: DON'T LET THE BASTARDS BRING YOU DOWN.
....
I want to live,
I want to give
I've been a miner
for a heart of gold.
It's these expressions
I never give
That keep me searching
for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.
Keeps me searching
for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.

Noor
Salaam Alaikum my dear friends...
Some thoughts:
When does closing your ears become a deficit?
When does closing your eyes become a deficit?
How open should our hearts remain to our loved ones when one has embraced their own way of life?
How do you love someone that doesn't understand your own meaning of love.....
Subhan'Allah
These are the trials and tribulations that we are grateful for. To be physically and mentally able to complete the processes of emotion, reflection, and reasoning......To transition from one state to another...and still remain in rememberance of Allah.
Our hearts are beautiful!
This video made me cry.
Here's a random analogy for you guys:
Practicing Islam/Dhikr/Worshipping Allah to me is like taking an anticoagulant to prevent blood in the body from clotting and causing further complications (such as stroke, etc..).
When you take the blood pressure from this person, you may find that it is within normal ranges...But your assessment is not implicating that this person does not longer need the medication.
It simply indicates that the risk for blood clotting may be under control...which means the medication is effective...Subhan'Allah!
Shaytaan can mask your weaknesses so well that once you realize what was causing your pain, it can be too late....It is up to us to self-medicate.
Shaytaan has the power to control our moods, our thoughts, our desires....To make us think that we no longer need any discipline or knowledge......
To isolate us as a feeding frenzy to our negative thoughts...and To help us make reasonable excuses for our sins. It is no joking matter.
May Allah SWT increase our awareness that we are his creation and our sole purpose in this dunya is to worship Allah SWT, And protect us from the accursed Shaytaan.
Ameeen.
